RACE OVERVIEW

Regardless of which race option you choose, you will enjoy an adventure through the historic Island Hills Station on singletrack that has been devotedly sculpted by the owners and their many helpers over the years. The courses have been designed to offer something for everyone, regardless of your running ability.

Each course takes in the stunning landscapes and breathtaking views of Island Hills. You will run past rivers, streams and through some of the most pristine native forest that North Canterbury has to offer.

The 10km ‘Humble Dove’ course provides a great option for walkers and anyone new to trail running. This scenic loop provides some incredible views across the station. Following a gently undulating single track, you can run or walk this course at your own pace.

The 15km ‘Dozer Line’ is possibly one of the most challenging 15km in the country! This scenic loop provides some incredible views, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s an easy course! You can take your time and opt to run or walk the course.

The 30km ‘Wilderbeast’ course is a great middle-distance option for anyone looking to challenge themselves on the more technical trails. If you are not quite ready to step up to the marathon distance then this is the course for you!

The 42km ‘Two Tunner’ marathon course offers a true test for all you trail junkies. With over 2,000m of elevation gain, this is a beast of a run that will test your endurance but also reward your hard work with some stunning views. You will incorporate the full Island Hills Station Walking Track as well as the two historic huts that have endured the test of time. This is a great option for seasoned marathon runners and aspiring ultra-runners.

As a family-orientated event, we couldn’t leave the little ones empty handed! That’s why we have crafted a shorter 4km course to give them a taste of trail running. Parents are encouraged to join their little ones on the ‘Weaning Muster’ which includes a few wee climbs and of course that all-important finishers medal!
